1. Pedalboard Update April-2012

If you didn’t already know, Im in a band called Skyhawk Drive.

We play to a click track in our IEM’s to keep us in perfect time.

The problem occurs when you have time based effects that depend on a rarely-accurate tap tempo. No matter how much you think you can tap the tempo accurately, It will infrequently match the BPM.

It WILL be noticeable when your doing time base stuff like a dotted eight note delay.

So as you can see, I exchanged some pedals for LCD screen displays so I can set my BMP precisely.

I also sold my wah pedal, I only used it for when the band goofed around during rehearsals to jam band style things.

I also added an Analog Delay- this really helps me achieve some classic delay tones as well as oscillation magic.

My new volume pedal is nice and smooth, the pot inside of it will last forever!

  3. What 10$ in spray paint can do

One of my favorite songs to play in our current Skyhawk Drive setlist is called The Enemy. I get to crank up the fuzz pedal creating endless sustain and really channel my inner Hendrix while Fred (our drummer) punches out an awesome drive. The rest of the guys swing their guitars over their shoulder and grab floor tombs and start hitting away creating a intense musical moment.

Our friends at the PA Journey Cafe let Ronnie and I dig through their back room closet and keep whatever we wanted. It was filled with a vintage Ludwig and a custom made drum set. We grabbed two floor toms and the kick drum, all of which looked like it had been sitting in dust for years.

The floor tom and the Kick matched, but one of the floor toms looked like it was covered in foil. My cousin Curtis and I decided to strip them down and paint them.

This is the one that was covered in foil and some kind of tape.

In order to get the tape foil off we heated the original wrap with a hair dryer and used a knife to separate it as we peeled it off. Way harder then it looks

After sanding, We sprayed a primer on all the shells then put painters tape for some pin stripe action

We did 2 coats of semi-gloss black and 2 coats of Clear coats. The paint reacted the way we wanted it to. Since the hardware is vintage, it would look weird having a brand new paint job. So we let some scuffs ad cracks come through the finish. The results were awesome.

  4. Knife Review: BenchMade 890 Torrent

A great Ken Steigerwalt design/Benchmade blade

This is my second Benchmade Knife and I love it.

I love assisted opening because they are fun and easy to open/close one-handed without thinking.

Its a great size for everyday carrying and it won’t give you pocket bulge. Its a classic design with a modern feel with the g4 handle.

  5. ashburtongeorge asked: Hey, I'm pretty bad with understanding the logistics of guitar pedals etc haha I was wondering if you could explain the best way to power up a pedal board? Thanks. :)

The best way is by a power station such as a voodoo lab pedal power. When you loop power together through a daisy chain it can create noise in your signal and it can also damage pedals. Work hard to do the research in understanding powering your pedals, bc if you don’t, you’ll have pretty metal box that doesn’t work. Here is a great website to learn from http://www.beavisaudio.com/techpages/PoweringPedals/index.htm

  6. Orient watch review

I love the idea of being able to one day pass down something of worth to my son or grandchildren. A watch is an amazing work of art that can last forever. I hope to one day be able to own a watch of this kind, but for now I wear a timepiece that reflect my budget. That doesnt mean I ran down to fossil and threw on whatever looked cool.

Orient Watch Co., Ltd. has established a reputation as a consistent maker of exceptional watches since its founding in 1950.

The CEV0M002B watch is a simple watch that makes a bold statement. The black band and face make this Orient Automatic watch a perfect choice for the casual day out.

Its an automatic watch with a 40 hour power reserve. The case Diameter is 41mm and the thickness at 11mm.

I originally bought it with the silver band but ended up purchasing a leather band from a local shop. The leather band that comes with the watch is a patent leather, and I hate shinny leather. Also, the face of the watch in a lot of pictures look black, when its more of an extreme dark gray with a unique texture.

I love the wide calendar, i cant tell the date and day instantly without thought.

  7. What You Should Know.

Aloha, My name is Jeremiah McCann and Im intentional

When I buy something I really like to research it as much possible. I want to make sure I know I’m getting the best for my moneys worth. I never want to buy anything twice, so I want the thing I buy to last long if not forever (I’m a huge sucker for lifetime guarantees/warranties) I love it even more if its made in the USA and packaged in a unique/classy way.

Most people would agree to all of that, but few put in the work. Whether its mass internet searches over months of time, or real person testimonies, it really does take patiences.

I don’t think I’m awesome, I just know what i like and what i want from it.

Guitars/Music Gear, Audio Equipment, Tools, Fashion and Accessories are the things I love to do the research for.

This blog is my way to give back to the internet community. So here are my reviews and pictures of the things I like the most.

  9. Knife Review: BenchMade Apparition 670

BenchMade Apparition 670 by Osborne Design

In order to be a real man, you must own a quality Blade.

After countless hours of searching, I picked out a blade I really liked the look of this guy

Only to discover this model was a limited edition. Tragic.

After a few hours of searching some online stores, I was able to purchase the knife at a small store in Illinois for a great price. Then took it over to the local engrave shop and got my initials put on it.

The Apparition 670 is an Assisted-Opening, Liner Lock blade made out of 154CM Stainless Steel

It is not a switchblade, and it is legal. But it opens with authority.

It is safe to open and close with one hand. You do not really come close to your hands like you would a frame-lock.

Some people freak out that there is no locking mechanisms. You dont need one on a knife like this, I have even tried to open it up in my pocket and it is physically impossibly, especially with the way it sits in my pocket.

This blade is great for everyday use. Its not too big and not too small.

  10. Gretsch BST 1500 (updated)

Ever since the late 60’s Gibson’s SG has been the most sold electric guitar. Gretsch launched their own solid 70’s inspired guitar called the BST (also referred to as “The Beast”) The had a few different models. My model is the Gretsch BST 1500 Model:8217

In 1979-Gretsch Guitars were being manufactured by a company called Baldwin Pianos (at that time based out of Chicago)

A BST is the grandpa to the Gretsch Corvette

I think a designer for Paul Reed Smith guitars had a Gretsch BST in the 80’s and used the design for the PRS starla

The 1500 series are very sturdy guitars. I purchased mine form a guy on craigslist who has had it since 85.

I took the BST to my friend Keirn Hilleary at his shop in Fredrick MD called Lucky Pick Guitar repair and sales. He does an amazing job with everything I bring him.

We first got rid of the pesky zero fret and fit a custom vintage bone nut in its place, They made a new Truss rod cover out of rosewood to fill the gap. We then replaced the stock tuners with the Midsize Gotoh 510 tuners that have a very nice 18:1 Gear Ratio we then took the old rusty bridge and replaced it with a nice Schaller Non-Tremolo 3D-6 Roller Bridge that has some really nice adjustment features.

I put Dunlop Strap Locks and some vintage Teisco Volume Knobs on it as well.

I have a custom pure latigo leather strap (Saddle Leather) made by Bill Stokes at his showcase in Rowlett Texas, The strap is really thin and goes well with the vintage look.

My next step is to get some high quality Pots from RS GuitarWorks and replace the pickups with some DIMarzio 36th anniversary PAF’s

I have decided to name her Layla

Here are some before and after pictures
